About our meat

  • 1. Where does The Meat Lab Koh Tao get its meat from?

Our meat comes from trusted small farms in Australia, New Zealand, and Thailand. We focus on premium cuts such as Australian Black Angus and local Thai beef that meet international quality standards.

Animal welfare is our top priority, we only work with farmers who treat their animals with care and respect.

  • 2. What’s the difference between Australian and local Thai beef?

Australian beef, especially Black Angus, is known for its rich marbling and tenderness. Thai beef tends to be leaner with a slightly stronger flavor.

At The Meat Lab, you can choose your favorite style & cut depending on your taste and cooking preferences.

  • 3. Do you sell only beef, or other types of meat as well?

We specialize in premium beef, but we also offer lamb, chicken, pork, veal, and our handmade sausages and burgers, all carefully selected for restaurants, BBQs, and home cooking.

  • 4. Is your meat fresh or frozen?

We work with both fresh and freshly frozen products to guarantee top quality and food safety.

All meat arrives at our shop freshly chilled, never frozen. We cut and portion everything ourselves, then vacuum-seal each piece and store it under strict temperature control.

  • 5. What makes your meat higher quality than supermarket meat?

Our meat comes from traceable, ethical farms and is professionally cut by our Master Butchers.

We age, portion, and package every piece with precision, because at The Meat Lab, meat is art.

All our products are free range, and we work only with farms known for exceptional quality and animal care.

  • 6. What kind of food do your cows eat?

Our Black Angus cattle are raised naturally. In their early months, they drink milk from their mothers, then graze freely on green pastures.

In the final stage, they’re finished on organic grain, which gives the beef its rich, buttery, and tender flavor.

  • 7. What do your other animals eat?

All our animals are fed 100% natural and organic feed. They have plenty of space to move freely and forage naturally.
Their diet contains no chemicals, hormones, or artificial enhancers, only pure, healthy nutrition.

  • 8. Is your meat organic?

Yes. All our meat comes from small family farms that we personally visited.

The animals are given time, space, and a stress-free environment to grow naturally and you can truly taste the difference in every bite.

  • 9. Do you have dry-aged meat?

Yes, all our beef is dry-aged for a minimum of 30 days, then wet-aged for another two weeks to achieve extra tenderness and juiciness.

  • 10. Does your meat contain hormones, chemicals, or growth enhancers?

No! Our meat is 100% natural, exactly how nature intended it.

Pure, honest, and delicious, perfect for every day.

Products & Preparation

  • 1. What are your most popular cuts?

Our bestsellers are the Black Angus Ribeye, Tomahawk, Tenderloin, Bullet Steaks, and our homemade beef burgers.

We’re extremely proud of the quality and flavor of each of these cuts.

  • 2. Can you help with custom cuts or portion sizes?

Yes! Everything is cut in-house by our butchers. Most of our meat is already portioned into convenient sizes, but if you let us know in advance, we can prepare custom cuts or special portions just for you.

We can portion steaks, mince meat, or prepare any cut exactly the way you like it.

  • 3. Do you also make homemade sausages, minced meat, or burgers?

Yes! We make our own sausages, burgers, and minced beef using only high-quality trimmings.

Everything is gluten-free, with no fillers or additives,  just pure, honest meat.

  • 4. What’s the best way to store your meat on the island?

It’s important to defrost meat slowly in the refrigerator, ideally overnight, to preserve its juices and texture.

Keep your meat refrigerated between 0–4°C if you plan to use it within 2–3 days. For longer storage, freeze it at –18°C.

All of our vacuum-sealed packs can be safely frozen without losing flavor or quality.

  • 5. Do you have any tips for cooking your steaks?

Yes! For every product, we have a step-by-step guide you can follow.

Just ask our butcher, and we’ll be happy to share the perfect method for your cut!

  • 6. Do you also offer private BBQ or catering services?

Absolutely! Our specialized team can come to your villa or resort and prepare everything for you.

We can even bring our own BBQ setup, cocktail/wine/beer/salad bar, and staff,  so you can simply relax, enjoy, and experience a real island-style feast.

  • 7. Is your meat halal?

Yes! All of our meat is halal-certified and slaughtered according to official halal standards.

  • 8. How much does your meat cost?

We offer something for everyone, from premium restaurant cuts to affordable options for daily meals.

Prices start at just 39 THB per 100 grams, depending on the product.

  • 9. Do you also sell sandwiches or ready-to-eat meals?

Not yet,  but that’s coming soon!

For now, we focus on providing the freshest, highest-quality meat on Koh Tao.

  • 10. Do you sell soups or cold cuts?

Not yet, but these products are definitely in our future plans.

For now, we proudly offer only fresh, premium meat.

  • 11. What is the difference and benefit of grain-fed or grass-fed beef?

Our cattle are raised using both methods: first grass-fed, then finished on grain. This combination gives the meat a rich, buttery flavor, better marbling, and an improved nutritional profile. Grass-feeding ensures natural growth and a healthy diet for the animals, while the grain finish enhances tenderness and juiciness, creating the perfect balance of taste and quality.

  • 12.  What is better grain-fed or grass-fed beef?

Both grass-fed and grain-fed beef have their benefits. Grass-fed beef is leaner and has a slightly stronger, natural flavor, while grain-fed beef is tender, juicy, and richly marbled, giving it a buttery taste that many chefs and meat lovers prefer.
